Please visit our yoga page to familiarise yourself with the
Tribe yoga philosophy.

Tribe is renowned for the relaxed, fun and easy going atmosphere that is cultivated by its teachers on every training and especially recommended for its  'down to earth' approach........no dogma and no nonsense!

Our trainings bring the ancient yoga teachings into a relevant and digestible modern presentation that students can easily understand and apply to their practice and, more importantly, apply to daily living.

As well as offering a comprehensive and practical approach to develop ones understanding and practice of yoga we work towards awakening your inner teacher as the main source of inspiration, guidence and wisdom to self practice and for teaching others.

One of the things we have recognised from previous trainings is the importance for trainees to have ample opportunity to practice teaching skills and adjustments so that by the end of the course they are fully prepared to go out into the world and teach safely. Tribe trainings have a variety of fun and effective teaching methods that allow the trainees to make fast progress towards becoming great teachers.

We  the (course instructors) are quite progressive and come from various lineages of yoga and therefore a fusion of different styles (Ashtanga Vinyasa, Hatha Yoga, Iyengar, Dynamic Yoga, and Kundalini Yoga) may be apparent in the course.

Through the study of patanjali's yoga sutras we establish a firm foundation as to why we are practicing and how to practice. This course is dedicated to reveal the spiritual context in which yoga is based and with that in mind we explore, study and practice yama, niyama, asana, pranayama and meditation.

Although the main teachings are derived from Patanjalis eightfold system of Ashtanga yoga which offers a comprehensive study, guide and exploration towards the true self  the 'real' teachings come from all those who are participating in the training as we explore discuss, explore and debate yoga and life in the many animated philosophy sessions that take place each week.

   Asana                     Philosophy                    Teaching

The method of practice is based on the 'dynamic yoga method' devised by Godfrey Devereux,  which offers a simplistic approach to the practice and understanding of the fundamentals of yoga practice.... a soft and passive core, a stable foundation, the expression of the bandhas throughout the body and the freedom of the breath. The basic sequencing of asana practice is derived from the Ashtanga Vinyasa Primary Series as devised by Prathabis jois.To honor our varying abilities and limitations there will be modifications to the traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa routine.

We facilitate a space whereby each person can appreciate and nurture their own individuality and move towards developing a self practice that reflects how and what they are feeling in each and every moment. Ultimately the sequencing of your own self practice or teaching to a group will gradually become more spontaneous and explorative.

For both beginners and more experienced students this course offers the chance to advance ones understanding of yoga as a tool of self discovery and spiritual development regardless of ones previous experience in yoga. This training is primarily a yoga intensive that anyone can benifit from regardless of their flexibility or yoga experience to date. We assess each applicants suitability to attend the course through questions that appear on the booking form. We especially welcome trainees who can cultivate a `beginners mind` regardless of their previous yoga experience so that usual ideas, judgements, habits, etc do not interrupt the learning process. A 'beginners mind' induces a more open and receptive approach, creating a greater possibility to advance ones yoga practice to a much greater depth.

Each student receives a training manual for use throughout the course and a personal workbook to document discoveries, developments, studies and thoughts to be handed in for assessment at the end of the training.

All trainees who sucessfully complete the course to the required standard will recieve their internationally recognised 200hr teaching certificate during the closing ceremony at the end of the training.

For those who have a passion to become a teacher this course will be a foundation for you to build your confidence and provide a practice arena to access your inner guru allowing you to teach clearly and precisely from your own experience.

STUDENT TESTIMONYS

The Tribe yoga teacher training was an immensely powerful tool to self-study, healing, and understanding the mechanics of the body and the mind. I came to India wanting to deepen my knowledge of the roots of yoga, and was deeply inspired by the wealth of knowledge that I was given that extended far past any other studies that I had ever been of part of. Truthfully I did not know what to expect at all and am incredibly moved by the powerful support and generosity Scarlet and Lalit offered about their own life journeys into yoga and its counterparts. The program was the most dynamic because of the encouragement each person was given to find their own voice within yoga, their own unique voice and style, and the groundwork was set from the first day to transcend any rigid dogma and create an individual path. It was a wonderful wonderful experience and I am forever touched…Thank you!...love and namaste!!!.....Leah (U.S.A)

The Teacher Training Course was truly an incredible month of light, love, laughter, and growth. The experience was simultaneously challenging (in many ways- physical, emotional, spiritual, mental, etc.) and nurturing. We were blessed to have teachers with a wealth and diversity of experience and study within the vast tradition of yoga, encouraging a full and dynamic practice - Jean-Jacques Gabriel, (U.S.)

Eating Out

From experience trainees often prefer to budget and choose when and where to eat their lunch or evening meals. Many of you will probably only eat two times a day as the 10am breakfast is very filling and will carry you easily through the day.
The venues that host the trainings have fabulous restaurants open all day for snacks and meals, you can expect to pay about 100-200 rupees per meal. There are also many other eating options in the area, on the beach or in the village.
