This training is primarily a spiritual journey. If you are interested to find out how yoga can have a positive and dramatic effect on you and your life then we welcome you to come and train with us.
We create a safe and sacred space for the group to work through various yoga and meditation techniques and disciplines of purification and transformation which very often lead to the release of deep seated physical and emotional tensions........this is an invitation to allow the tears, laughter, joy, sadness, anger, fear, compassion and love to flow without the usual inhibitions and judgments that very often restrict our spiritual evolution.
Our trainings bring the ancient yoga teachings of the East into a relevant and digestible modern presentation suitable for the western mind.....teachings presented in such a way that students flourish in their practice and naturally gravitate to a more yogic lifestyle. As well as developing your knowledge of the practicalities and application of yoga we work towards awakening your inner teacher as a main source of inspiration, guidance and wisdom for self practice and for teaching others. One of the things we have recognized from previous trainings is the importance for trainees to have ample opportunity and scheduled time to practice and develop teaching skills and practical hands-on adjustments skills. Tribe trainings effectively allow trainees to make fast progress towards becoming great teachers...... so that on completion of the training they can feel adequately prepared to go out into the world and begin teaching safely with confidence and sensitivity.
We (the course teachers) are quite progressive and come from various lineages of yoga and therefore a fusion of different styles (Ashtanga Vinyasa, Hatha Yoga, Iyengar, Dynamic Yoga etc) may be apparent in the course.
This course is dedicated to reveal the spiritual context in which yoga is based and with that in mind we explore, study and bring into practice the teachings of the yoga sutras and Ashtanga Yoga..... yama, niyama, asana, pranayama and meditation. Ashtanga illuminates our pathway to an in-depth comprehensive study and exploration of the true self...however, we like to think that the 'real' teachings come from all those who participate in the training, discussing, exploring and debating yoga practice and yogic lifestyle in the many animated philosophy, sharing and self-reflection sessions that take place each week. Asana Philosophy Teaching
The training program has a rich variety of asana, pranayama and meditation styles and techniques creating a journey of both movement and stillness.
The method of asana practice and study is inspired by the 'dynamic yoga method' devised by Godfrey Devereux, which offers a simplistic approach to the practice and understanding of some basic fundamentals applied during yoga practice whilst cultivating awareness. .........those fundamentals are:
1. A soft and passive core. 2. A stable foundation. 3. The expression of the bandhas throughout the body. 4. Freedom of the breath.
The basic sequencing for asana study and practice is 'based' on a blend of the Ashtanga Primary Series as devised by Prathabis jois and vinyasa flow classes. To honor our varying abilities and limitations there will be modifications to the traditional primary series whereby we will introduce additional asanas, a greater variety in sequencing and more spiritual content and reference. The pranayama program includes a broad range of techniques that present a gradual yet deep exploration of the power of the breath which opens the doors to the possibility of transcending any physical and emotional blocks....... accessing and connecting to the more subtle aspects of our being.
The meditation program is a reflection of many types of meditations that the teachers on the training personally practice which depending on the teaching team may include Za-Zen, Anapasati (mindfullness of breathing), dynamic meditation etc . All the meditations are an invitation to cultivate the awareness and stillness that is the hallmark of all spiritual practices.
We facilitate a space whereby each person is invited to appreciate and nurture their own individuality and move towards developing a self practice that reflects how and what they are feeling in each and every moment so that the sequencing of ones own self practice or teaching naturally becomes more spontaneous and explorative.
Tribe trainings are primarily yoga intensives which offer the possibility to advance ones understanding of yoga as a tool of self discovery and spiritual development ......regardless of flexibility, strength or yoga experience.
We assess each person's suitability to attend the course through the application form. We especially welcome trainees who believe they can cultivate a `beginners mind` so that the usual ideas, judgments, habits, etc do not interrupt the learning process. A 'beginners mind' creates a more open and receptive attitude generating a possibility to further develop ones yoga practice into greater depth and a more meaningful experience.
Each student receives a training manual for use throughout the course and a personal workbook to document discoveries, developments, studies and thoughts to be handed in for assessment at the end of the training. All trainees who successfully complete the course will receive their internationally recognized 200hr yoga teacher certificate at the end of the training.
If you who have a passion to become a teacher this course provides a practice arena to access your inner guru and build a strong foundation of confidence and skill which will allow you to teach clearly and precisely from your own experience.
If you would like to deepen into practice, explore your most subtle depths and challenge your body and mind to become more open and free this is a fantastic opportunity to work with like-minded people and amazing teachers in a safe and supportive environment.
THE INTENSE PRACTICES AND TRANSFORMATIVE TEACHINGS ON THIS TRAINING ARE ONLY SUITABLE FOR PHYSICALLY, MENTALLY AND EMOTIONALLY STABLE INDIVIDUALS.
As we progress through the training many trainees inevitably experience deep emotional and physical releases . The Tribe teachers endeavor to hold a safe and sacred space so that all participants experience a supportive and nurturing environment where each person is free to express and explore themselves

I came to India wanting to deepen my knowledge of the roots of yoga, and was deeply inspired by the wealth of knowledge that I was given that extended far past any other studies that I had ever been of part of. Truthfully I did not know what to expect at all and am incredibly moved by the powerful support and generosity the teachers offered about their own life journeys in yoga and its counterparts. The program was the most dynamic because of the encouragement each person was given to find their own voice within yoga, their own unique voice and style, and the groundwork was set from the first day to transcend any rigid dogma and create an individual path. It was a wonderful wonderful experience and I am forever touched…Thank you!...love and namaste!!!.....Leah (U.S.A) The Teacher Training Course was truly an incredible month of light, love, laughter, and growth. The experience was simultaneously challenging (in many ways- physical, emotional, spiritual, mental, etc.) and nurturing. We were blessed to have teachers with a wealth and diversity of experience and study within the vast tradition of yoga, encouraging a full and dynamic practice - Jean-Jacques Gabriel, (U.S.)

Please contact the Indian Embassy, Consulate or High Commission in your country for all visa information and to obtain a 6 month tourist visa prior to your departure to India. The visa starts from the day of issue and is non-extendable. Vaccinations Please check with your local travel clinic and ask their advice so you can make your own informed choice as to whether you want to take any vaccines or medicines.
Many of us here at Tribe do not subscribe to western medicines as many are controversial and produce ugly side effects. We do recommend that you invest in good travel insurance then if the unexpected happens you will be well looked after by the great hospitals and medical teams here in Goa.
