The union spoken of in yoga can be experienced at many different levels but ultimately points to the reabsorbtion of the separate self into the infinite ocean of consciousness. Leading us from the personal to the impersonal, from duality to non-duality. Such self realization can happen anywhere and anytime and the many practices of yoga provide a constant opportunity and invitation for these realizations to occur in the light of your awareness, creating a longer lasting effect that penetrates deep into your being.
Here at Tribe we have absolutely no-bias to any particular style of yoga. Yoga is yoga whether the style is dynamic or gentle, we look to the quality of attention and awareness, the application of sensitivity, honesty, openness, generosity and focus to define a practice as yoga.
We are all unique and should be encouraged to find our own style and honor our own natural rhytym and individuality. Once the basic fundamentals to practice are understood yoga can then be approached with the confidence and understanding it takes to journey towards ones inner wisdom and truth. As we tune into our individual needs, limitations and possibilities, our journey of yoga becomes more and more unique and varied on a day to day basis.
So..... if you are new to yoga feel free to experiment in a variety of yoga styles. You will learn something different from each to create a strong foundation for future practice. Ultimately you will probably gravitate to one particular style as the basis for a regular practice but continue to nurture a willingness to experiment, reflecting in your practice the ever constant change happening in yourself!
Remember that yoga is primarily a 'spiritual practice'. A practice to concentrate the mind and cultivate awareness of that which you truly are and that which is truly happening.
Currently there are lots of people practising and teaching 'yoga' without the refined knowledge or understanding of the true essence of yoga and how it can be achieved and untilized in ones life and daily living! Thankfully there are also many teachers and practitioners who have embraced and embodied authentic yoga teachings, not just practising yoga but living yoga.
Tribe is an open invitation to all yoga lovers to discover how to LIVE YOGA
Asana
Asanas are a fun and creative way to relax, open joints, lengthen muscles, generate therapeutic internal body heat, increase cardio-vascular strength, improve respiration and circulation, increase energy levels, release endorphins for a natural high and give you a radiating glow of good health and happiness. As well as the many physical benefits yoga has a profound and positive effect on the emotional and physiological body. The nervous system is soothed reducing stress and tension and the mind becomes calm and stable, focused and attentive. On a more subtle level the practice of asana fines tunes your awareness and sensitivity so that you can relax into the flow of life and be more at ease with whatever is happening to you and around you. On a spiritual level, as well of the possibility of experiencing many levels of union, the asanas allow you to tune into and harness the benefical reservoirs of energy inside you and the prevailing energies in the universe ultimately elevating your vibration and your consciousness.
Pranayama
Pranayama is the science of directing and balancing prana (life force/energy) through the agent of breathing. From simple to complex breathing exercises practiced within asana or as an independent practice beneficial results such as calming the mind, soothing the nerves, releasing tension/anxieties and initiating deep states of relaxation and meditation can be achieved. In the more advanced stages of pranayama mastering the flow of prana can lead to stimulation of the chakras, balancing of ida and pingala and awakening kundalini
Meditation
There are many meditation styles and techniques that help bring clarity, calmness and focus to the restless mind. Meditation allows us to settle the fluctuating mind and tap into our ever-present inner wisdom and truth so that eventually we are able to navigate through life feeling more grounded and relaxed. In advanced stages of meditation the ability to maintain a concentrated mind can open the doors to higher states of consciousness.
