Sandi Rakhimbayeva

Sandi Rakhimbayeva was born in 1986 in Aktobe town, Kazakhstan. Nowadays she lives in Almaty city of Kazakhstan. Previously she was fascinated by kung-fu for 5 years, and two years by jogging. She was first introduced to yoga in 2006. Today Sandi starts her day with the performance of the first series of Ashtanga Yoga. During her teaching Sandi’s priority is to remain true to the authenticity of Ashtanga Yoga system according to Shri K. Pattabhi Jois. The words of  Shri K. Pattabhi “99% of practice and 1% of theory”, “Just do and all is coming” ring very clear for Sandi. Breathing and movement synchronization, ujjayi breathing, bandhi, fixed sight-drishti, right postures, to keep principles of tristhana are kept alive and present by Sandi during Ashtanga yoga practice. Sandi feels that the real and healthy transformation of her life happens day by day via the support of her practice.

Sandi fondly remembers the day a Moscow teacher Leonid Lanin gave an interesting comparison of Ashtanga yoga with a lotus flower. He said 'Ashtanga Yoga practice includes 8 ethical aspects, which during practice start to open at the same time like petals of lotus. Day by day, under regular practicing,  those petals gradually change our personality for the better. My transformation of personality starts from the time I put my mat on the floor and start my day with surya namaskar and a whole series of Ashtanga yoga'

From Sandi 'Beyond the sweat, the triedness, the aches and pains and other discomforts that sometimes arise in practice i maintain the passion to continue. I get peace inside of me, which brings order to my mind, and it helps to make the right decisions in my life and gives me a feeling of self-satisfaction. The main principle which was cultivated by my parents is: “To share useful knowledge that I gained due to my own practice”, this helped me to choose my life activity as teaching. No, I don't consider myself as a teacher; I believe I am a person who shares the knowledge. And this gives me such an incredible pleasure. I will always feel respect and gratitude to my teachers. We have one national proverb which says: “Show me your friend and I will tell who you are”, the same we can say in the Ashtanga Yoga: “Show me your teacher and I will tell who you are”.

During the practices I try my best as my teachers do. My main teachers are: Sergei Vertkov(www.ashtanga.kz), Scarlet Dee (http://www.tribe-yoga.com/scarlett.html). Other teachers who i regularly study with are : Leonid Lanin (http://www.ashtangavinyasa.ru/ru/s/leonid-lanin), Kino Macgregor (http://www.kinoyoga.com), Madina Tanikeyeva (http://www.yogalifecoach.org).»
