Katina’s eagerness to understand the inner self had its beginnings at an early age and has lead to a life of dedicated study. Her professional exploration has reflected 35 years consultation and private practice working as a psychotherapist incorporating a range of bio-psychosocial and spiritual frameworks to address poignant life issues.
Katina’s desire to connect and share her understanding with others has also extended to teaching in her role as lecturer at various universities in the area of interpersonal skills, self awareness, communication and counseling and currently teaches Yoga Philosophy and Meditation at the Collage of Natural Medicine.
She is the published author of “Awaken the Heart,” and has published numerous other articles as former relationship columnist for the Melbourne Weekly Magazine. Her extensive professional application and long-term focus in this area has provided the grounding for a deep appreciation of life’s challenges.
In her personal life, Katina’s interests moved to deeper realms of exploration, first studying Buddhist psychology and later being initiated to the Buddhist path by her Tibetan teacher Lama Choedak Rinpoche. Katina has learnt that living a spiritually committed life not only requires dedication but a preparedness to meet self face on and with all its foibles. As a result, her introduction to yoga in an older, less flexible body at a mature age demanded more than she anticipated and set the stage for new awakenings.
Perseverance and humility, to name a few, presented as Katina’s teachers and in 2007 she qualified as a Hatha trained yoga teacher in Australia and more recently Ashtanga Vinyasa training with Tribe Yoga. She has supported yoga teachers in training as Coordinator at Gita International School of Yoga and studied Spiritual Counseling.
Katina has her own yoga business in Australia and runs yoga retreats in North Queensland. She is currently preparing her next 2 retreats in North India, 2013. Married 33 years, 3 children and 4 dogs later, she describes a life filled with gratitude.
With this background, she brings to her counseling and teaching a wealth of personal and professional understanding. Her holistic approach supports students in their healing and inner awareness creating optimal conditions for physical, mental and spiritual balance.
