VISA All Foreign Nationals travelling to India require a visa.
Please contact the Indian Embassy in your country for details of how to apply for a Toursit visa. You will need to check the validity of the visa possible for your nationality. It could be 6 months but in some cases it may only be 3 months. The visa will start from the day of issue so dont apply too early if you want to stay in india for a long time. When applying for your visa your purpose of visit is 'tourist'. In our experience it is not helpful to put you are studying yoga.... your training or retreat is considered a yoga holiday and should not be confused for visa purposes. Tribes yoga groups are private and we are just hiring a venue in India. In our enquiries to the Indian visa office we have been told that all participants and teachers should apply for a Tourist visa. Your purpose of visit is therefore Tourist.
On the application form there is a request for two Indian referees.... leave this blank. As a tourist you are not expected to have any indian referees. When we apply for our tourist visa we leave it blank.VACCINATIONS INDIA Please check with your local travel clinic and ask their advice so you can make your own informed choice as to whether you want to take any vaccines or medicines.
Many of us here at Tribe do not subscribe to western medicines (malaria tablets, vaccines etc) as many are controversial and produce ugly side effects. We do recommend that you invest in good travel insurance then if the unexpected happens you will be well looked after.
INTERNET & MOBILES INDIA There are plenty of internet cafes and in some places you can plug you laptop directly into the internet. It’s also possible to buy a USB internet connection ‘plug and play’ to use on your laptop. Bring your mobile and buy a local sim card to make and receive international calls.
AUSTRIA We have a wireless connection at the Tribe venue and you will also find internet access in the village
